World Premier of the new Volkswagen ID The new Concept ID is premiered at the Paris Motor Show 2016

Volkswagen is embarking on its journey to the future at the Paris Motor Show with the world premiere of the visionary I.D.: I.D. is a highly automated electric car that will cover a distance of 400 to 600 kilometres on a single battery charge. The production version of the I.D. is due to be launched in 2020 at a price on a par with comparably powerful and well-equipped Golf.

For Volkswagen, the world premiere of the iconic I.D. in Paris - with its iconic, fresh design - marks a watershed. This car is as revolutionary as the Beetle was seven decades ago and the first Golf was 40 years ago - which went on to become two of the world's most successful cars of all time. The I.D. has the potential to make history, too. It has been designed to be a compact all-rounder that will help to make electric cars the 'everyday' choice, with its impressive electric range and an attractive price.

New ID BUZZ

Volkswagen is demonstrating with the I.D. BUZZ concept vehicle in Detroit just how rich in features the electric mobility of tomorrow will be – an all-wheel drive spatial marvel with electric motors on front and rear axles, a fully automated driving mode (I.D. Pilot) and a new generation of indicators and controls. "The I.D. BUZZ is the next generation MPV. It is based on the new Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB) and provides comfort and loads of space for long journeys. Its electric range as per the NEDC is up to 600 kilometres", explains Dr Frank Welsch, Member of the Board of Management Volkswagen Brand for the Development Division. The I.D. BUZZ takes on new energy inductively or from a charging station. At a charging power of 150 kW, it takes around 30 minutes to charge up to 80 per cent.

New ID Crozz

The I.D. CROZZ was conceptualised as a sporty, interactively designed zero- emission all-rounder – with electric all-wheel drive that is equally impressive in the urban environment as it is on the tracks of an active lifestyle. The I.D. CROZZ delivers power of 225 kW, has a top speed of 180 km/h and can cover up to 500 kilometres (NEDC) on one charge. The high-performance battery can be charged to 80% of its energy capacity in 30 minutes using a fast-charging system (at 150 kW DC power). The concept car switches over to the fully autonomous 'I.D. Pilot’ mode when the driver touches the VW badge on the steering wheel for three seconds – and then the I.D. CROZZ drives with autopilot. All of the concept vehicle’s instruments and controls have been implemented fully digitally. A smartphone on wheels. The most important information is projected into the driver’s visual field by augmented reality. Gesture control is gaining in importance. A new light shade in the transparent panoramic sunroof is even activated by gesture control; the shade offers a new form of interior and exterior ambient lighting. Meanwhile, a new CleanAir system guarantees good air quality in the vehicle – in all outdoor conditions.
